The home of Reverend Walter R. Branham (b. 1850) and family in Oxford, Georgia, was also home to many Emory College students who boarded with them while attending school. The collection includes photographs of Emory College students and faculty.

Bullock (b. 1902) was a professor of English at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois (1929-1935), and professor of religion and department head at Millsaps College, Jackson, Mississippi (1935-1942); editor of church school publications, Methodist Church, Nashville, Tennessee (1953-1969); and was a contributor to educational and religious publications and the author of books. His papers include a typescript manuscript of Bullock's A HISTORY OF EMORY UNIVERSITY, 1843-1936, and materials relating to its writing and publication.

Featherston (1814-1886) was a lawyer, judge, and landowner, in Newnan, Ga. The papers relate to Featherston's law practice, activities as judge (1850-1883), landowner, and slaveholder, and Reconstruction efforts by Methodist Church to colonize former slaves; personal and business records of Featherston's son-in-law, George Washington Peddy (1834-1913), relating to his service as Confederate surgeon and as physician in Newnan; and correspondence, diaries, legal and financial papers, genealogical materials, photos, and other papers of the Featherston, Peddy, and Wright families. Topics include education of women at College Temple in Newnan (1873-1874), Lucy Cobb Institute, Athens, Ga., and Hollins College, Va. (1901-1903), and education of men in Georgia public schools, and at Emory College (1858-1859) and Atlanta Medical College (1890s).

A professor of English at Georgia Institute of Technology (1932-1974), Rainey (1907-1989) was also a founder of Tech's chapter of the American Association of University Professors and of the Georgia Education Association. He was active in many political and civic organizations including the Georgia Commission on International Cooperation, the Committee for Georgia, Citizens' Fact-finding Committee of Georgia, Atlanta Christian Palestine Committee, and the YMCA. He married (1940) Dorothy Quattlebaum, who was active in Georgia's Democratic Party. The papers consist of correspondence (1917-1974), literary manuscripts, subject files, notes, and printed materials dealing with Rainey's activities in various organizations. Correspondents include Lillian Smith (1936-1948), Ernest Hartsock (1925-1930) and C. Vann Woodward; literary manuscripts are Rainey's; printed materials include programs and announcements; subject files cover named organizations, civil rights, poll tax, and World War II; material on Dorothy Rainey's work with the Democratic Party is included.
