Resources for research and teaching.

Indian Film

We have books on Indian film and a growing collection of Indian films in DVD format and many still in videocassette format. Feel free to make suggestions.

  • To browse the shelves online for books on films in India, click the Browse Shelves tab and enter call number PN1993.5.I8.
  • Books on and films by individual Indian filmmakers, e.g., Satyajit Ray, will be cataloged elsewhere.  Search by their name.

To search DiscoverE or any other online library catalog by Library of Congress Subject Headings, try the following.

Tibetan Film

We have documentaries as well as full-length movies. If anyone wants to show any of them outside the classroom to a public audience, they need to obtain a performance license from the copyright holder (usually the distributor) and show a copy to the Music and Media library before they can lend them for that purpose.

South Asia Video Archives, Vendors, and Lenders

Listed below are commercial and non-commercial vendors, producers, lenders, guides, directories, and catalogs that have been helpful to librarians and scholars in the field. Corrections and additions are welcome.
