Scholarly Discussion Groups

Major scholarly discussion groups for scholars in the field are RISA-L, Indology, and H-Asia. You can also search their archives for discussion threads on specific topics, bibliographies, reviews of recent publications, position announcements, and web resource recommendations. And they often will respond to individual requests for help on research topics.

H-Asia
The primary purpose of H-ASIA is to enable historians and other Asia scholars to easily communicate current research and teaching interests; to discuss new articles, books, papers, approaches, methods and tools of analysis; to test new ideas and share comments and tips on teaching. H-Asia is especially committed to discussing region wide, comparative and professional issues important to scholars of Asia.
Indology
This website is associated with the INDOLOGY online discussion forum for Classical South Asian studies that has existed since 1990 as a medium for exchange and debate by university-level scholars in Classical Indian Studies.
Religion in South Asia (RISA)
Religion in South Asia Section (RISA) of the American Academy of Religion (AAR). RISA participants are scholars interested in the academic study of the religious traditions of South Asia. RISA-L is the official email list of RISA. This page is designed to give RISA participants, RISA-L subscribers, and other scholars of religion in south Asia access to RISA-related material.

More than 6,000 scholars and creative artists have received AIIS support, with their work spanning the humanities, social sciences, social policy and natural sciences. The Institute has been directly responsible for fostering several generations of new scholars, and its senior fellows have returned to classrooms where they have taught tens of thousands of American college students.
Recognized as an educational institution in India in its own right, AIIS can directly recommend issuance of student visas for language study and for programs that bring students to India.
