South Asian Studies

Resources for research and teaching.

Subject Areas

For library collection purposes, "South Asia" includes the countries of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan, as well as Tibet (including the area now known as the Tibet Autonomous Region in China as well as the Central Tibetan Administration in exile in India).  Emory Libraries prioritize collection of materials to meet faculty research and teaching interests.  The following subject areas represent major examples.  Clicking a link will take you to a LibGuide page or a simple search of DiscoverE for materials in that subject.  For more links see the South Asia subject headings in the Religious Studies guide.  We also collect more broadly to provide easy access to a full context of materials in major research areas based on environmental scans of related fields e.g., history, anthropology, religion, philosophy, literature, linguistics, women's studies, and political science.
