Emory's LibGuide on LibGuides: Best Practices & Guidelines for Creating and Maintaining LibGuides

An internal guide for Emory Libraries.

Friendly URLs

"Friendly" URLs make it easy to quickly see and understand the purpose of the page.

Based on the guide type you selected, assign an abbreviated version of the guide's title for your friendly URL. Individual pages in a guide can also have friendly URLs.

Standards for friendly URLs

  • All lowercase
  • Use hyphens between words, not spaces
  • Use up to 3 words that adequately describe the content

Examples:

Start with the course title and 1-4 word description.
