Curation Workflow

Faculty administrators, librarians, and other support staff may be granted administrative access to specific departments or faculty groups. Please submit requests for administrative access to Emory FIRST support at emoryfirst.help@emory.edu.

Suggested Curation Workflows:

  • To view another's profile for curation
    • Login to Emory FIRST with you University NetID and Password
    • Select the impersonate icon from the upper administrative menu
    • Search and select desired faculty member from profile listing

  • Establish Faculty Search Settings and Automatic Claiming (see section on Getting Started)
    • Modify search settings to reflect all author name variations. System defaults include Legal Last Name and Initials.
    • For common last names, modify search setting to include current and past author affiliations. System defaults include Emory affiliation
    • Claim Automatic Identifiers (see section on Automatic Claiming)
  • Additional Publication Module Support (see relevant sections)
    • Faculty may link their ORCID profile to Emory FIRST by signing in with ORCID credentials and selecting “Allow”
    • Publications and Scholarly Works not appearing in the Emory FIRST harvested databases can be imported from a variety of other systems using BibTeX file types.
    • Additional publications or scholarly works can be manually added using title, DOI, or ISBN search or by providing full citation information. As unique identifiers, DOI and ISBN are best.
    • Duplicate works coming in from a variety of sources and/or ingest methods can be merged into a single record.
    • Record type (journal article, book chapter, conference, poster, etc.) can be manually edited for each record to correctly reflect type of scholarly work and/or faculty relationship (author, editor, translator, etc).
