Emory's LibGuide on LibGuides: Best Practices & Guidelines for Creating and Maintaining LibGuides

An internal guide for Emory Libraries.

Checklist

  • Guide is assigned a type (subject, course, topic, etc.) (see examples).
  • Guide title follows appropriate naming conventions (see examples).
  • Guide provides an introduction/purpose on the main landing page.
  • Guide has been assigned the appropriate subject(s) according to the course description (see examples).
  • Guide has a friendly URL assigned (see examples); friendly URLs for individual pages are optional.
  • Links and Databases are added from Database Assets (see example), not as a list of links in a Rich Text Box. Lists of links emphasize the best bets for research and are not long list of resources. Resources are ordered by relevance.
  • All images comply with copyright law or are in the public domain/creative commons. Credit is given to creators of images when appropriate or required. Images are relevant to the content and focus of the guide (see examples).
  • Videos are embedded using the Media/Widget option, using the code generated by the Embed Responsively tool (click here to go to the tool).
  • Text added into a Rich Text Box was copied-and-pasted using the Paste as Plain Text option to avoid formatting problems.
