Carrel Slip Refresher

Hi folks!

Just a quick refresher on Pink Study Carrel Slips, they've come up a few times lately. I've created a tab in our LibGuide in case it's needed!

Why do patrons need Carrel Slips?

Pink Carrel Slips will be requested by Graduate Students who have been assigned to a study carrel in the stacks tower.

They request the slips when they want to keep checked-out books in their carrel. To keep books in their study carrel, students must check them out AND have a filled out slip.

Library Service Desk Student Assistants, Student Supervisors, or Staff must fill the slips out before giving them to a patron.

The Stacks Department audits carrels regularly, and must pull any items with empty slips, or any items with no slips at all. This audit cuts down on the amount of books that are marked as "in place" in Alma, but a patron has moved them to their carrel; making them inaccessible to anyone else.

Filling Out Study Carrel Slips

When a patron is checking something out to keep in their carrel, all we need to fill out are:

  • The Call Number from the spine of their book
  • The Carrel Number (The patron should know their carrel number)

Use one slip per one item, and use pen please!
