Being the President of the United States is a huge accomplishment, but Jimmy Carter didn't just retire when his Presidential Term was completed. He worked harder than ever, to make not only the United States a better place, but the entire world. He started the Carter Center, to help alleviate suffering, promote democratic elections and fight disease internationally. He partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help build houses for families all over the globe that might never have had a home otherwise. He taught students at Emory University for thirty seven years. He wrote thirty two books. He gave of himself and shared his time with others and causes he believed in and even taught Sunday School for years at a tiny church in Plains, Georgia where he and his wife grew up. and continued to be a part of the community. He tried to make the lessons he had learned and his knowledge accessible to anyone who needed it or would like to have it. Some of the books he wrote were political to help politicians better understand how peace could be a goal even in tumultuous times, but others were life lessons for anyone.
One such book is called Everything to Gain: Making the Most for the Rest of Your Life. It helps Americans focus on the second half of their lives after retiring. Another is A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety and a third book is called Faith: A Journey for Us All.
