Before Syncing with EndNote Online

Make sure to create a BACKUP of your EndNote Library BEFORE you sync your desktop library with EndNote Online.

To create a backup copy:

  • In the EndNote menu, select FILE / SAVE A COPY.
  • In the Window that opens, you can either give it a new name or leave the default EndNote name (which is the original library name with “Copy” added to it).
  • If you check the box that says "Save As Package,"  you will have a compressed file with both the .enl file and the data folder.
