EndNote

EndNote & discoverE

The library's search tool, discoverE, works with EndNote in three different ways.

  1. Export items from discoverE as an RIS file and import them into either desktop EndNote or EndNote Web.
  2. You can export items from discoverE and import them into EndNote Web.
  3. You can use the EndNote connection file for the library catalog (see box at bottom of this page).

ALWAYS CHECK THE REFERENCES IMPORTED INTO ENDNOTE. Data clean-up is usually required.

Export discoverE Records to EndNote Desktop

Export discoverE records to EndNote desktop by doing the following:

  • Click "Add to eshelf" next to the item name to save the item into your eshelf. If you login first, you will save the item into your own eshelf and it will stay there. If you don't login, you will save the items to a temporary eshelf that will be erased once you finish your discoverE session.
  • Once you have added everything you want to add, click "eshelf" link at the top right of the page.

EndNote discoverE eShelf

  • Select the items to export.
  • At the top right of the list of items in your eshelf, there is a dropdown box that says "Select how to save" -- choose "Push to Export RIS" and click "Go."
  • This will create a .ris file. Save it on your computer.

EndNote discoverE export

  • Open EndNote.
  • Choose "File/import."
  • In the window that opens, navigate to the saved .ris file.
  • Change the import option to "Reference Manager RIS". Click "Import".

Emory Catalog (discoverE) EndNote Connection File

The EmoryU connection file that comes with the EndNote product is out of date, because of system upgrades. To search discoverE from within EndNote, download the updated Emory Catalog connection file from the link above. Save this file in the Connections folder of your Endnote Program files.
