Clinical Question

PICO is a tool that helps identify and organize key concepts that arise during a patient assessment. Use the PICO framework to transform clinical problems into answerable questions using these categories: Patient, Intervention, Comparison and Outcome.  Sometimes other factors may be incorporated such as Type of Question, Type of Study or Time Frame.  Adding these to the PICO framework to create PICOTT reminds you that different types of study designs are used to answer different types of questions.
