Resources to support the Masters in Development Practice program and other Emory Development Studies programs

Language Resources

The Emory College Language Center is the go-to resource for language education options at Emory.

Emory College curates lists of self-learning options for many languages. We encourage students to use these resources to practice a language in which they are already proficient or to develop new skills.

The Emory Structured Independent Language Study program (SILS) is a non-credit program designed for students who need to study languages that are not part of the regular curriculum. Since SILS was created in 2008, we have offered instruction in Albanian, Amharic, ASL, Bengali, Czech, Georgian, Greek (Modern), Haitian Creole, Indonesian, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Serbo-Croatian, Swahili, Thai, Turkish, Twi and Vietnamese. Students interested in studying a language that is not otherwise taught at Emory may have the option to partake in this independent study program.
