Navigating Archives Topic Guide

Guide to finding and using archives beyond Emory.

Table of Contents

Resources available for finding archives and navigating their collections vary widely by international context and archive type.

This guide suggests various digital research tools and guides, as well as information on important printed finding aids. It focuses upon guides that contain a significant level of detail about collections, and as a rule, does not contain directories of archives (for which there are many) that contain only addresses and brief summaries. It includes information about official archives and personal papers. Its goal it to allow researchers working in academic, institutional and governmental archives in various fields a place to begin.

To get in touch with fellow graduate students or faculty with experience working in particular archives, contact your subject librarian.
