Emory uses the Library of Congress Classification System. Musical scores and books about music have call numbers beginning with:
And are arranged by subject within each call number range. Posters with these subjects are found throughout the Music and Media Library.
Media call numbers are cataloged by accession number, meaning each new item receives the next number in the series; in other words, the older the item, the smaller the number. At Emory, these media series start with:
CDs check out to students for 14 days, and LPs and most DVDs in the lending collection check out to students for 3 days.
If you can't find a resource at Emory, try looking for the source using WorldCat, a shared catalog for many libraries in the US and around the world. If you find it on WorldCat (or sometimes even if you cannot), you can request the resource through Emory's Interlibrary Loan.
