About PubMed

PubMed

PubMed (Public MEDLINE) is a free resource from the National Library of Medicine® (NLM).  PubMed:

  • Is the interface for MEDLINE, NLM's bibliographic database of citations and abstracts, PubMed Central and Bookshelf (eBooks)
  • Covers the fields of medicine, nursing, behavioral sciences, public health, dentistry, veterinary medicine, health care systems, health policy development, bioengineering, environmental science, preclinical sciences and more.
  • Contains citations from approximately 5,400 biomedical journals published worldwide.
  • Coverage extends back to 1946 with over 35 million citations.

When to use PubMed

  • You will always search PubMed.  You will use other databases to supplement your PubMed search.

Setting up a free account allows you to personalize your PubMed.

  • Save your searches and set up automatic alerts to check for updates.
