Reference sources provide you contextual information and an overview of the critical historical events and figures. They are written based on primary and secondary sources. These are good are for familiarizing yourself with your research area.

The Been-to’s devised a range of coping strategies to counter race prejudice and achieve their education for independence and development. - Black Britain: Organising for Media Diversity (Reports on the Experiences of Black People in the Information Society) "The Chronicleworld was Britain's first Internet magazine monitoring Black British Communities post 1997. This reprinted issue of the Chronicle addresses a new generation of aspiring, computer literate Black achievers and focuses on race in the information society and racism in the media. There is concern about the under-representation of Black people in journalism and the negative portrayal of minorities. The issue concludes with a call for a greater Black presence on the Internet."

- High Rise, Hard Living: On Being Black in London's Tower Blocks (Black London eMonograph Series) "By law and practice, a low-income family in housing need could get on the list for 1960s high-rise municipal housing. The downside is that too often African and West Indian families were lodged in older properties targeted for demolition or renewal. This book argues that fair renewal policies could boost residents' day to day living conditions, releasing their nascent skills and civic participation."
- Race and Brexit: Charts a New Path for Black Britain "Race and Brexit is a guided journey into uncharted territory by Prof Thomas L Blair. He argues that beleaguered Black voters and communities risk exclusion from the Brexit debate following the vote to leave the European Union at the June 23rd 2016 Referendum.
