Using Library Search

This guide explains how to log into an account, search the catalog, and how to renew and request items.

Requesting Items

 

Faculty, staff, and students may request items from the Oxford Library's circulating collection. Remote and on-campus faculty, staff, and students may request items that are not in Oxford’s collection (or are checked out) but are available at another Emory library. Items requested from another Emory library usually arrive at Oxford within 2 to 3 business days. You will be notified via email when the item is available for you to come check out.

To request an item from another library to be delivered to Oxford's campus: log in to your Library Search account, then look up the item in Library Search.  Using the “Locate/Request Item” button either on the search results page or the Item page will take you to a page where you can request the item.

    

 

On the request page, select the Request Physical Item link under "Get It".

Next, select "Oxford College Library" as the Pickup Location. Use the "Send Request" link to submit.

Recalling a Checked Out Item

 

Patrons may recall items that are currently checked out to other patrons. Initiating a recall request will shorten the due date for the book to ten days from the date of the recall. Patrons who have placed recall requests will be notified once the book is returned.

To recall an item, log in to your account, look up the item in Library Search and then select the "Request" link to place a recall.

Renewing Items

 

Once you are logged in to Library Search, you can view your Library Card to see all the items you currently have checked out and renew items that are due soon. On the My Library Card page, you can also see any fines or fees on your account, and the progress of any requests you have placed.

When you follow the link for My Library Card, you may be asked to log in again. Simply click on "Emory User" or "Affiliate," whichever describes you, and you should be taken to your account screen.

On this screen, you can also see the items you have checked out from Georgia Tech, if applicable. You can select "Renew All" to request renewals for all items you have checked out, or click on the "Loans" tab to choose a single item.
