When Kate L. Turabian first put her famous guidelines to paper, she could hardly have imagined the world in which today's students would be conducting research. When creating and following citations, it's useful to know a few standard abbreviations. A list of acceptable, commonly used abbreviations can be found in the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th ed., sec. 10.43, pp. 504-510.
