Using the Michael C. Carlos Museum's collection of Greek vases, as well as an extensive study collection, this advanced seminar will introduce students to different approaches to the study of Greek vase painting, from traditional connoisseurship to gender

Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum (CVA)

The goal of the CVA project is to publish ceramic vessels surviving from Classical Antiquity. Each vase has a catalog entry, bibliography, and plates.

The CVA(Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum) is an attempt to reproduce the entire corpus (body) of classical vases. It is organized by country and then by museum. Its publication is still ongoing. Many of the volumes have been digitized and are available at the CVA database. Additionally the relevant pages for a specific pot are usually linked from the Beazley archive database.
