This guide includes advice to help you research seminar papers, journal notes and comments, theses, dissertations, and directed research projects. Information on the tabs above will describe the wide array of resources to which we have access through Emory Libraries, as well as when and how to use them.
Every student is required to research a topic in depth, submit drafts of a paper to the supervising faculty member for revision, and produce a substantial paper on a topic. A minimum grade of “C” is required to satisfy the writing requirement, which may be fulfilled through a seminar, directed research, or writing a journal article as a board candidate.
For further information on the upper-level writing requirements, please refer to the Emory Law Student Handbook below. The writing requirement guidelines are located in Appendix A.
