RIPM indexes music periodical literature from approximately 1800 to 1950. Because of the wealth of such literature, the project is still underway. (The RIPM acronym comes from the French title, Répertoire international de la presse musicale.)

- All contents are indexed, including articles, reviews illustrations, music examples, advertisements, and press reviews.
- Emory's RIPM access is limited to one user at a time. Please log out when you finish using the database.
To access the content the RIPM indexes:
- Emory owns some early journals, primarily in microform. Search for these in Library Search as you would any periodical title. Caution: Catalog records for the printed RIPM volumes (i.e., the index) start with the title of the journal itself, which is confusing, but you'll see "Répertoire international de la press musicale" farther down the page.
- Google Books may have digitized some issues, so it's worth checking.
- Use WorldCat to find the periodical. Then request the article through Interlibrary Loan.
- Ask for help if you can't find a content of an article you need.
- A fuller version of RIPM offers contents of some of the journals. Emory does not subscribe to this service.
