A project to digitize a major bibliography of African American Newspapers called African American Newspapers and Periodicals: A National Bibliography. It will republish the bibliography using a linked data framework. For a more in-depth overview of the project check out this blog post.
Your Wikipedia projects this semester will directly support this effort!

User pages present you to the Wikimedia community and can include information about your views, your objectives, and just about anything else about you. When just starting out, user pages are a good way to present information on yourself and let other editors know you are a new user and still learning. Keep in mind that these pages are public and may be copied and redistributed so do not include information on these pages that you do not want shared.
Questions to consider: (1) Who are you? (2) Where do you live? (3) What is your area of expertise? (4) What kind of work are you doing in Wikipedia?
To edit your user page, log into Wikipedia and click on your username in the upper right hand corner. Then click on the “edit” link and add your text. You can create a header, insert images, or format your text as desired.
Feel free to use this example as a template: I am a new Wikimedian. I am an undergraduate student at Emory University. My scholarly interests include [INSERT INTERESTS} and I work to enhance existing information in Wikipedia and Wikidata to improve the scholarly record. I am currently creating information about African American periodicals and editors as part of a class on race, gender, and media. When I am editing Wikipedia and Wikidata, I strive to strictly abide by Wikipedia's accepted practices on conflicts of interest, neutrality, and notability. I will always work in the best interest of Wikipedia because that is in line with Emory's educational mission.
We will be using the following instructions from the University of Texas at Austin for adding citations to Wikipedia. We will be citing a book in this activity, so you should use the book template under the manual tab.
