Bar Exam Resources - Requirements for Bar Admission in U.S. States

General Resources for State Bar Admission Requirements

A Comprehensive Guide to Bar Admission Requirements, compiled by the National Conference of Bar Examiners and the American Bar Association, is available here: https://reports.ncbex.org/comp-guide/. The Guide includes information about UBE and Non-UBE jurisdictions, admission on motion, pre-administration and post-administration requirements, legal education requirements, eligibility, fees, and other relevant information for each of the fifty U.S. states.

To access information that is current and comprehensive, users are encouraged to review details posted online by each state's bar association (or other governing body) regarding requirements for bar admission.

For an overview of requirements organized by specific jurisdiction, including minimum passing UBE and MPRE scores, see https://www.ncbex.org/jurisdictions

NCBE continues to make updates to its site with information about the NextGen Bar Exam, which will be administered in a limited number of jurisdictions starting July 2026: https://www.ncbex.org/exams/nextgen

Additional Bar Readiness information for Emory Law students is available here: https://law.emory.edu/academics/academic-support/bar-prep.html.
