1) Pick up handouts for easy reference and view the Quick Start Guide.
2) If you haven't already, create a Wikipedia account.
3) Go to the Art 101 Wikipedia Edit-a-thon program page and sign in to record attendance.
4) Start writing! Courtney, your Librarian, will help with finding research sources to support your article and can answer any questions you have about editing on Wikipedia.
Below is a list of Wikipedia articles based on your course topics. In some cases, there are standalone articles on a specific art genre; in other cases, art is a subcategory embedded within a broader article on a historical period or culture. Take a look and see which articles capture your interest and are in need of corrections, expansions, or updates.
Copyright: paraphrasing and citations are necessary. Do not copy/paste text from another website or source - paraphrasing and citation is necessary.
Neutral point of view: all articles must be written from a neutral point of view, representing views fairly and without bias.
Verifiability: all articles must have citations from verifiable, reliable sources.
Usually, academic and peer-reviewed articles are the most reliable sources. Other sources include textbooks, magazines, journals, newspapers, and books.
No original research: all articles must link to reliable, published sources. Articles may not contain your own interpretation or new analysis of published material.
Conflict of interest: You should not edit pages that represent a conflict of interest.
