Google Scholar

  • Emory's Google Scholar account matches university subscription information to your results 
  • Allows you to retrieve both freely available content and articles normally accessed through direct searching of a library database
  • Will help you find information from a variety of sources including academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, and scholarly articles.

Adding Emory to Google Scholar 

1. Click on the three line menu button, then click "Settings" 

 

2. Click "Library Links"

 

 

3. Type in "Emory" and select "Open WorldCat" and "Find it @ Emory"

4. Click "Save"

5. You will now see "Find it @ Emory" to the right of your search results

Search Tips

Google Scholar automatically places AND between words

  • stress related illness

Use quotations for phrases or titles

  • "Autism spectrum disorder"
  • "One Hundred Years of Solitude"

Search for alternate terms using OR

  • theory OR model
  • "Social interaction" OR Communication

Advanced Search Options

Use the drop-down on the right to view advanced searching options

Utilize the refinements for data range, publication, author, and keyword selection to narrow or expand results.

Search Results

Google Scholar tells you how many times any article has been cited. Click on Cited by to track down the citations.

Clicking on Related articles will display articles on similar topics. This is very helpful if you find an article relevant to your research.
