The Emory Libraries use the Library of Congress (LC) Classification System to organize its books. Unlike the Dewey Decimal System, the LC scheme uses a combination of letters and numbers. This system allows each item to have a unique call number and place in the stacks. Library of Congress classification groups together works on the same subject.
