From Paddington to Twilight: A Curious Glimpse into the Children’s Reading Program and Juvenilia Collections at Woodruff

Where did this collection come from?

The Children's Reading Program collection was the idea of Emory University's Educational Studies division. The division, in its 50+ year run, was well-regarded within the university. It closed in the 2010s, along with other programs, due to the university changing direction. Originally, the collection was used to support the division and students’ (both established and trainee teachers) reading comprehension/literacy concentration. The collection was also a big hit with the Emory community, specifically families. The collection began to grow as award winners and requests were added. When the division closed, the collection stopped growing. However, there has been an interest in children and young adult (juvenilia) literature for study and evaluation at Emory.
